The " John Wick" prequel series " The Continental" will be aired through Peacock instead of Starz..

The series is set to be released through the online streaming platform in 2023 with Peacock is currently releasing all three "John Wick" films released until now.

The show is produced by Lionsgate and also produces films in the franchise.

The series was first revealed as under development during Starz in the year 2018.

As was previously stated, the three-episode series will examine the origin story as well as the internal workings of Continental Hotel, a centrepiece of the "John Wick" universe which provides a sanctuary for assassins.

It's told from the viewpoint of an untold Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) inspired by Ian McShane's character from the films.

Negotiations on the series were overseen by Val Boreland, executive vice chief and head of acquisitions of content for NBC Universal as well as Jim Packer, president of worldwide distribution of television and digital for Lionsgate.

"John Wick" is an integral part of the zeitgeist in culture that has a large, enthusiastically engaged fan base all over the globe," said Lionsgate Television Group Chair Kevin Beggs.
